I began my investment career in 1988 and have extensive knowledge in Modern Portfolio Theory, taxation, estate planning, and the dealings of small and mid-size business concerns.
I graduated in 1985 with an Honours Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Ottawa. I am also a Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA) -- a designation that I received from the Investment Management Consulting Association in liaison with The Wharton School of Business (1999), University of Pennsylvania. CIMA professionals incorporate a complex body of investment knowledge in the process of providing objective advice and guidance to individual and institutional investors.
Away from work, I am an active member of my community in Cambridge, Ontario. I am currently a member of the Board of Directors, Cambridge & North Dumfries Community Foundation. I have served as President of the Rotary Club of Cambridge North (1997-98 and 2011-12) as well as been a member of the Board of Directors of Cambridge Memorial Hospital (1997-2004). Additionally, I am a Paul Harris Fellow, the highest honour Rotary International can bestow upon an individual; the award acknowledges the "service above self" which the recipient has offered to their community. I enjoy spending my free time creating memories with my family. I enjoy competing in various sports such as biking and golf as well as travelling with my wife, Dawn, and my son, Quinn.
Investments & Wealth Institute™ (The Institute) is the owner of the certification marks ”CIMA®,“ and ”Certified Investment Management Analyst®.“ Use of CIMA®, and/or Certified Investment Management Analyst® signifies that the user has successfully completed The Institute's initial and ongoing credentialing requirements for investment management professionals.
The Chartered Investment Manager® (CIM®) Designation builds the skills and experience we need to serve a more sophisticated financial client or institution. Financial professionals who hold the CIM® designation are eligible for registration as a Portfolio Manager in Canada. They have expertise in providing money management services to high-net-worth and institutional clients, and they understand the application of portfolio management in the context of Canadian markets and regulatory requirements
What do these designations mean for you? They mean that when you work with an investment consultant who has taken the time to complete these designations, you’re working with someone who is well-versed in modern concepts of investment advice, is educated enough to understand how your individual investments are being managed and how they work together – no matter how complex it may be. These skills, along with a commitment to advanced education, enable them to provide you with the kind of service that you not only want, but deserve.
